Hours Weekly: 20 hours
Schedule: Flexible with 2 - 4 hours of scheduled weekly meetings
Rate: $25 / hour, depending on experience

Summary of this Position
This role is responsible for the development, design, coordination and delivery of all online marketing materials for GOS. The candidate will work directly with the Director of Programs and Development as well as in collaboration with other GOS content creators and leaders, to ensure brand alignment and consistency, compelling storytelling, and timely execution. A key deliverable during this initial 3-month contract will be the development of a comprehensive brand kit drawing on the newly articulated Vision, Mission and Values of the organization.
About GOS
The Guelph Outdoor School is a Guelph-based non-profit organization dedicated to providing outdoor immersion & mentorship programs primarily for children and youth, with programs and events for families and adults. We are fine-tuning our Vision, Mission and Values but these are some working examples.

Working Environment
This position will primarily work remotely; there may be a need for the individual in this position to visit our programs in person. If required onsite, the individual may need to have the ability to walk on uneven surfaces and be outdoors for an extended period of time in all weather conditions. This position will require the ability to spend lengths of time in front of a computer screen and possibly long periods of sitting.
Role Responsibilities
Develop Marketing Assets and Materials
Develop a comprehensive brand kit for GOS, including storytelling, voice, and visuals
Develop/consolidate visual social media branding (logo variations, color palette, typography guidelines, brand messaging, tone of voice, imagery library, graphic elements, social media guidelines, application templates, usage examples, and a detailed explanation of our brand story, values, and target audiences
Create & Maintain a database of approved photos
Create a database of graphic assets for general use
Coordinate with Field Staff to obtain photo/video assets needed for planned marketing materials
Design engaging visuals for posters, flyers, and other materials at the request of Admin & Field Staff in promoting events and programs
Support for annual projects such as Impact Reports, AGM presentations
Marketing Coordination and Development
Collaborate on annual strategic marketing strategy, schedules and tactics, primarily designed and delivered online
Create content focused on Outdoor Immersion Programs as well as broader cultural messaging
Monitor registration levels to identify marketing schedule adjustments as needed
Report on marketing outcomes incorporating meaningful feedback and data, to be presented at monthly operational meetings
Support website copywriting to improve brand-aligned messaging and visitor engagement
Implement the marketing timeline by working closely with internal content creators
Create and maintain strategies and tools for list-building, differentiation and maintenance
Ongoing Communications (Daily, Weekly, Monthly)
After completing a brand kit:
Newsletter and Website
Advise on the evolution of the GOS website to effectively express the GOS brand and community values.
Advise on the structure and format of newsletter communications to effectively express the GOS brand and community values
Create & Compile Bi-weekly Newsletters spotlighting program launches, GOS events,
Advise on the evolution of the GOS website to enhance user experience, increase registration & engagement
Social Media (IG & FB)
Advise on the structure and format of social communications to effectively express the GOS brand and community values
3-5 posts per week showcasing program launches, day-in-the-life storytelling and broader nature connection and community/cultural content
Create a bank of post topics and maintain a line-up of pre-scheduled posts
Reply to social media comments as appropriate, consulting with Admin/Field Staff to inform responses where necessary
Increase local followers and reach
Build in CTA’s to increase newsletter subscribers
Program Communications
Advise on, oversee, and streamline processes and scheduling for communicating with participants and participant families
Skills and Capacities
Brand Development - experience with development of all components of a brand kit, drawing on organizational Mission, Vision and Values
Communication & Storytelling – Strong writing and verbal communication skills to share our mission in a compelling way
Design & Visual Content Creation – Ability to create engaging posters, flyers, and digital visuals using design tools like Canva, Adobe Suite, or similar.
Social Media & Digital Marketing – Familiarity with platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and email marketing tools, to reach our community effectively
Community Engagement & Relationship Building – Comfortable connecting with families, educators, and partner organizations to strengthen our network
Event Promotion & Coordination – Ability to support and promote events, ensuring strong attendance and engagement
Organization & Time Management – Able to balance multiple projects, respond to staff requests, and meet deadlines efficiently
Collaboration & Adaptability – Works well with field staff, leadership, and external partners, adapting to the needs of the team
