Our first PD day in these strange times. A PD day for feeling the cold wind coming in, and telling the warm stories beside a warm fire. A PD day for adventure at a new and vast location, for working new skills - knife work, making shelters, watching the sun cross from one side of the sky to the other. It might be a celebration of a final hot day, or a good taste of what’s to come.
A day for making new friends, looking to the trees and the animals for the lessons we might need: on letting go, hunkering in, taking care, being okay with yourself, and finding belonging right where you are. Often times, a GOS session like this is like the Room of Requirement (for your Harry Potter fans) - exactly what you need it to be.
The day is the classic GOS format:
* opening circle where everyone is made welcome and seen
* warm -up and sensory games to get us into our bodies, out of our academic heads, fully aware and alive
* games and Nature Based Challenges that teach, inspire, and thrill.
* snacks and lunch around the fire for stories and skills
* a time for timelessness: getting out and about, following instincts on the adventure trail
* closing circle and story of the day support kids in making sense of their time, sharing about the big moments
Expect
* great ratios (5 students / instructor), and small groups limited to 15
* mentorship to support kids in pursuing their passion, interest, & curiosities
* Professional adult instructors who do this for a living
* Lots of stories on the way home
