FlockShop #1 | The Eramosa River as Migration Stopover

Apparently, Canadians are doing more bird watching than gardening.  If you are looking for a fresh, welcoming, and accessible take-off into a world of connection & nature awareness though birds, this is your moment.

Fall migration is underway, and the Eramosa River is a thruway to the Great Lakes.  You are invited to join ornithologist Matt Iles and field naturalist Adrian Iacovino on a day of being with the birds along the Eramosa River, as we track their patterns and ask the curious questions, and wrestle a bit of understanding about how the local landscape features in all of this.

Birding asks us to be still, to listen, to slow down to the pace of nature, and to be in awe of the soaring, flapping, stalking movements of the birds.  With or without enhanced optics, join us as we share our passion for birds through exploration, anecdotal charm, and empirical insight.  Expect a meandering hike with lots of stops for rapt awe and wonder - whilst we jam about migration, identification, bird voice and behaviour.

FlockShop is birding in Guelph Outdoor Schools style.  Just as much about nature connection as a cultural groundswell as it is about facts and information.  Just as much about the season as the landscape.  Just as much about connecting with yourself and others as it is about knowing the stats on each bird.  This workshop is an easy venue for maintaining social distance.  Dress for the weather, with sturdy footwear for a bit of a hike. Bring a snack, a lunch and a beverage.
